Both domestically and globally, the Skin Care and Cosmetics industry is massive by any measure. From Estee Lauder to Elizabeth Arden to Mac to The Body Shop, there are Billions of dollars being made in all kinds of niches every year…and every year, more and more new companies are emerging.
Interestingly, in the latest edition of Australia’s Business Review Weekly “Richest People Under 40 Edition”, 11% of the women listed made their fortune through skin care or cosmetics with an estimated combined fortune of $38 Million between them…Go girls! Great Australian female entrepreneurs like Natalie Bloom have shown us that through hard work and a dream, anyone can make it happen!
It’s a growth industry with exceptionally high profit margins and the opportunity to start small and grow to whatever level you like…if you’re in charge.
Although it would be easy to point toward the Multi-Million dollar fortunes, My Skin Care Company primarily focuses on assisting everyday women to carve out a small niche within their local market place that will provide personal and financial freedom. Once that’s done, the sky’s the limit.
Natalie Bloom laughs about her successful multi-million dollar export business, Bloom Pty Ltd: "If I knew then what I know now, perhaps I wouldn't have taken the plunge!"
"I started when I was 22. Building a business at such a young age was hard going, but there were many advantages to being so young. Looking back, the fact that I was so naïve about the complexities of business meant that I wasn't afraid to make mistakes."
Bloom Pty Ltd manufactures aromatherapy products, candles, skin-care products and more recently, cosmetics. "Basically, it's anything that makes you feel good," she says.
Natalie started Bloom Pty Ltd in 1993 using her family home as the office, and just two products - cards and a candle-making kit. Five years later, with the benefit of entrepreneurial talent, a lot of hard work, a little luck and the energy and passion of youth that knows no obstacles, Bloom Pty Ltd is now a multi-million dollar export company.
Bloom products emphasise quality, blended with quirky packaging that catches the eye. These days its products have even started to attract a celebrity market, among them international songbird Kylie Minogue and catwalk models Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista.
Natalie's company has built export markets in New Zealand, Japan, the USA, the United Kingdom, Europe and throughout Asia. Bloom products are now sold in some of the world's most prestigious department stores, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstroms, Anthropologie Stores, Bliss Spa, and Fred Segal in the United States; Harrods, Liberty, Selfridges and Space NK in the UK; Colette in Paris; and The Loft and Tokyu Hands in Tokyo.
